Flapp Ball


Welcome to the devlog for my first Unity game, Flap Ball! When I started this project, I thought it would be simple, but it turned out to be quite a challenge. Inspired by the classic Flappy Bird, I set out to create something similar, but with my own unique twist.

In the game, I created a circle object as the player and set up a background color to complement it. After that, I added a script to control the player, allowing the circle to move upward when pressing the key. However, I faced an issue where the object would move out of the screen when the key was pressed. To fix this, I added boundary objects at the top and bottom of the screen, ensuring the player wouldn't escape the play area.

Next, I scripted the obstacles that move across the screen in a loop, automatically generating as the player progresses. The challenge came when I needed to detect collisions between the player and obstacles. Initially, the game continued even after the circle touched another object, but I implemented a game-over mechanic. Now, when the player touches any object, the game ends and restarts.

Finally, I designed the GUI (Graphical User Interface), which allows players to interact with the game through visual elements like buttons and menus. After adding background music to enhance the experience, Flap Ball was complete.
